Upcoming Airship Capabilities

Upcoming Airship Capabilities

Range of airships

Expected range of airships is broad. For all the gas used is helium which offers very high safety standards. Available cargo models for medium and long range with payloads up to 60 tons with vertical take-off and landing capacity, with electric motors powered by generators or even with solar source with carbon footprint equal to 0 Passenger models for short haul and sightseeing are also available.

Atlant

Atlant models can accommodate goods in the internal compartment in external or crane mode. The ideal solution for long distance transport, for OSOM and for special loads.

Hybrid passenger

The family of Hybrid Airships is designed in respond to a growing demand for affordable and safe passengers aerial services. The electric driven airships with the multiple motors located away from the passengers are the perfect tools for the sky travel.

SkyLifter

The SkyLifter’s design provides major advantages over traditional airships or balloons; with unique performance capabilities, the lifting of very heavy payloads and delivering them to site over long distances, and hovering precisely whilst construction work is being conducted.

The characteristics and advantages described below create the conditions for the success of the LTA aircraft that will be produced by Green Tech Aerospace: in fact it can be said that for the world of air transport, a new era has arrived that will combine economic advantages and respect for the environment.

The choice to reinvent LTA aircraft derives from some considerations:

The aircraft produced by Green Tech Aerospace use significantly quieter electric motors than the jet ones used by conventional aircraft with a similar payload and this means that the noise pollution associated with the flight is considerably lower

LTA aircraft have a fuel consumption per hour of flight much lower than that of traditional aircraft (no consumption for the SL25 model that uses “solar power”) and this means lower operating costs and lower environmental impact thanks to lower emissions from fossil fuels

The LTA aircraft for freight transport that will be produced by Green Tech Aerospace have VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) capabilities and consequently do not require airport infrastructures, thus being able to operate even in the most remote areas of the planet

LTA aircraft, with the use of helium gas instead of hydrogen, have reached a level of safety identical to that of traditional aircraft
The aircraft produced by Green Tech Aerospace have significantly lower maintenance costs than the comparable costs of conventional aircraft

Green Tech Aerospace intends to be the world leader in the LTA aircraft market.

The choice of Grottaglie as a production site derives from the opportunity to benefit from advantages not possible in other Italian areas:

>> Grottaglie is an airport certified by the National Civil Aviation Agency and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency for research and port for suborbital flights and usufriusce of a large area for “flight tests”.

>> The airport manager is in favor of making available to the project the areas necessary for the construction under concession of hangars suitable for the production lines of LTA aircraft.

>> The Grottaglie airport has been included in the area of competence of the Taranto Institutional Development Contract and, therefore, eligible for State interventions (DM 9 December 2014 and subsequent amendments) in line with the Regulation (EU) 651/2014.

>> Another important Italian aeronautical manufacturer already operates at the same industrial site with which it will be possible to create industrial synergies.

>> Qualified human resources suitable for the development of project activities are available in the Tarantina area.

Green Air will be the first airline to operate cargo, special transport and leisure flights with LTA aircraft.

The airline will be a Certified Air Operator according to the EASA rules of the European Union and will follow current and future regulations for the management of LTA aircraft. The Airline will elect Grottaglie airport as its base and will also set up a flight school for airship pilots.

Flight operations will begin for licensing reasons with the use of Airbus 320 for hire (WET LEASE) from other non-European operators.

From the third year the airships produced by Green Tech Aerospace will be added to the fleet. And then the airship has the enormous advantage of not needing infrastructure: in fact it does not need an airport being able (as are the models of the Atlant and SkyLifter series) to take off and land vertically, to be autonomous for the loading and unloading of goods and do not need a ground crew for anchoring to the ground, they have great autonomy.

But the real advantage of the airships will be to be able to modify the very concept of logistics allowing, precisely due to the ability to operate without the need for infrastructure, to eliminate various phases of the transport of goods, thus obtaining a faster and cheaper handling of goods than that. today.

Efficiency. Delivery times.

All this, once again, with a favorable environmental impact due to the resulting reduction in fossil fuel emissions.

Atlas Company

The Atlas Company was founded in 2016. During the 5 years of operations, Atlas which is also engaged together with Google X in the Loon project for the creation of an internet coverage network for remote regions, as well as a demonstrable know-how in the field of the design and production of balloons for surveillance, intelligence and communications and passenger airships, it has succeeded in creating a prototype for the ATLANT airship, an innovative cargo airship. The Company’s registered office is located in ISRAEL.

Green Tech Aerospace (supporting company of the Welcome to the future project) will produce Atlas-06 and ATLANT series aircraft in Grottaglie, the latter being a competitive hybrid airship with a rigid body capable of taking off and landing in VTOL mode.

Two models of ATLANT airships are planned – ATLANT-30 and ATLANT-100 – with carrying capacities of 16 and 60 tons respectively. ATLANT airships are able to transport goods inside the airship (in the cargo bay) as well as loads outside in “crane” mode. Buoyancy is guaranteed by an innovative “buoyancy” system which is obtained by compressing or expanding helium gas.

In addition, 2 passenger models with 10 and 24 seats will be produced (also in the Hybrid version).

SkyLifter Company

The SkyLifter Company is a British company founded in 2010.

Over the years it has developed the idea of a new LTA aircraft with a complete “green” concept, capable of carrying loads of various tonnages in “crane” mode.

The project is in the testing phase of the component parts of the final aircraft.

The most important novelty is the choice of solar energy as the only source of power installed on board. This makes the aircraft capable of flying with no flight duration limitations.

The development of the project arrived at the beginning of the prototyping stage of the model.
The models that will be produced will have payload capacities of 2 (Rover) and 25 (SL25) tons of load in “crane” mode.
